George Floyd was killed in the summer of 2020, and the neighborhood where I live in Minneapolis became the center of what followed. I went out with a shovel before I went out with a camera. The news crews were covering an event. I was documenting my neighborhood. These images don’t take a side. This is the story that ran alongside the one the world was watching, the one that happened to the people who already lived there.
